Online fitness coaching for people in the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford area

The Orlando metro runs from Sanford down through Orlando to Kissimmee in the middle of the state, with a younger median age than the Miami and Tampa Bay metros and an inland summer with more days at or above 90 F than the Miami or Tampa Bay stations. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Orlando is on Eastern time, the same as me, so the call fits any evening.

How the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford area trains, per the CDC’s metro survey

In 2023, an estimated 42.6% of adults in the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford area reported muscle-strengthening exercises two or more times a week (CDC SMART BRFSS, 95% CI 37.8 to 47.4). In 2024, an estimated 23.8% reported no physical activity or exercise in the past month (CDC SMART BRFSS, 95% CI 19.8 to 27.8). Metro samples are smaller than the state survey’s, so read the range in brackets more than the single number.

How coaching works from a distance

Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Your workouts live in the Trainerize app, you weigh in twice a week, you send progress photos every two weeks, and we talk on a weekly call scheduled around your time zone. Between calls, you can message me with questions.

My shifts change every week. Can a plan keep up?

That is what the weekly call is for. If your shifts change every week, a fixed Monday-Wednesday-Friday plan breaks the first time the schedule moves, and the same is true of weekend work or a second job. A younger metro, as the median age above says this one is, has plenty of weeks built around a schedule someone else sets. The plan here is written as a number of sessions per week, not days, so when next week’s shifts come out, we place the sessions into the days you actually have. Two short sessions on a hard week still count, and the third comes back when the week allows.

Is it too hot inland to train outside in summer?

At midday, for most people, yes, and the numbers above are why. The station here records more days at or above 90 F than the coastal ones, with July highs above that. So the plan treats summer as an indoor season for anything hard: lifting in a gym or at home all year, and the walking or running moved to the first hour of light or after sunset from late spring to early fall. The winter months, which are mild here, are when the outdoor work can move back to whatever time suits you.
