How do I train through a San Antonio summer?

Indoors for the hard work and early or late for the rest. With more than a hundred days a year at or above 90 F and July highs in the mid-nineties, a noon run is the session that gets skipped, so the plan does not schedule one. Strength training stays inside all year; walks and runs move to the first hour of light or after sunset from about May through September, and a very hot week swaps outdoor conditioning for a short indoor session. The cooler months, which are mild here, are when outdoor training can go wherever it fits. The weekly call moves the plan when the season turns.

About a quarter of adults here report no exercise. Where do I start?

With a week small enough to keep. The survey figure above says close to a quarter of adults in the metro reported no physical activity in the past month, and the usual reason is not laziness; it is plans that asked for five evenings in a week that had two. The first month here is two sessions of five or six movements, weights that leave several reps in reserve, and a daily walk with a floor low enough to keep on a bad day. With a younger median age, a lot of weeks here also move around with work and family, which is why the plan is written as sessions per week, not fixed days.
