Online fitness coaching for people in Utah

Utah is the youngest state on these pages by a wide margin, with one of the lowest shares of adults who report no activity, one of the higher shares who lift, and one of the shorter commutes. It is an active state that already has the habit. Coaching for Utah is about progression and about fitting training into a week that is full of other people. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Utah is on Mountain time, two hours behind me.

How Utah trains, per the CDC's state survey

In 2023, 44.5% of adults in Utah reported muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days a week (BRFSS, 95% CI 43.3 to 45.8). In 2025, 15.5% reported no leisure-time physical activity at all (BRFSS, 95% CI 14.6 to 16.4).

Daily life in Utah, by the numbers

From the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, published value and margin of error together: about 17.6% of workers who live here work from home (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.3); commuters average 22.1 minutes to work (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.1); the median age is 32.0 years (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.1); 93.4% of households have a broadband subscription (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.2). How coaching works from a distance

Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Your workouts live in the Trainerize app, you weigh in twice a week, you send progress photos every two weeks, and we talk on a weekly call scheduled around your time zone. Between calls, you can message me with questions.

Utah is already active. What is a coach for?

For the difference between active and progressing. The state survey puts Utah among the lowest shares of adults reporting no activity and among the higher shares lifting twice a week, which is a state full of people who train and still look the same as two years ago. Coaching adds enough weekly work for the muscles you care about, progression you can see in the logbook, and someone who reads it every week and changes one thing. The mountains stay the weekend; the lifting is the week.

My week is full of family and church and work. Where does training go?

Into two or three sessions you place yourself, not five you miss. Utah has one of the shorter commutes on these pages and a good share of people working from home, so the minutes exist; what a full week lacks is slack, and the plan is written for that: forty-minute sessions built around the big movements, early morning or at lunch, with a floor for the weeks that go sideways. The weekly call takes twenty minutes in your evening, two hours ahead of mine.

I’m in my twenties. Is coaching for people my age?

Utah has the youngest median age of any state on these pages, so you are in good company, and it is who I coach most. The pattern at that age is energy without a system: a new program every month, a plan that assumes the week will hold still. Coaching keeps one program long enough to progress it and puts someone on the other end of the logbook. Most Utah households have the connection the weekly call needs.
