Online fitness coaching for people in the Louisville/Jefferson County area

The Louisville metro spans the Ohio River, with Louisville and Jefferson County on the Kentucky side and the Southern Indiana counties across the bridges, a short average commute and about a quarter of adults reporting no exercise. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Louisville is on Eastern time, the same as me, so the call can go anywhere in your evening.

How the Louisville/Jefferson County area trains, per the CDC’s metro survey

In 2024, an estimated 25.1% of adults in the Louisville/Jefferson County area reported no physical activity or exercise in the past month (CDC SMART BRFSS, 95% CI 22.2 to 28.1). Metro samples are smaller than the state survey’s, so read the range in brackets more than the single number.

The CDC’s metro-area survey has no strength-training figure for the Louisville/Jefferson County area for 2023 or later, so none is shown here, and the state’s figure is not used in its place.

How coaching works from a distance

Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Your workouts live in the Trainerize app, you weigh in twice a week, you send progress photos every two weeks, and we talk on a weekly call scheduled around your time zone. Between calls, you can message me with questions.

What happens if I miss a whole week?

Nothing is lost, and the plan already knows what to do. The survey figure above says about a quarter of adults in the metro reported no physical activity in the past month, and a missed week is often how those stretches start: one week becomes a month because restarting feels like starting over. So the plan has a rule for it. After a missed week you come back at the same exercises with one set fewer and the same weights, and the week after that you are back on the program. The weekly call is where the restart gets scheduled, so the gap stays a week.

I live in Indiana and work in Louisville. Does that change anything?

Only where the sessions go. The coaching is the same on both sides of the river, and the whole metro shares my Eastern clock, so the weekly call lands the same way for everyone. A bridge crossing is the part of the day that does not move, so the plan builds around it: a session before you leave or straight after you get home, a longer one on the weekend, and a short version for days that run late. With fewer than one in seven workers here working from home, most weeks have a fixed shape, and plenty of rain means the walk needs an indoor fallback.
