Online fitness coaching for people in Indiana

Indiana is one of the younger states on these pages with one of the shorter commutes and a small work-from-home share: an office week with real evenings. The state survey says about four in ten adults lift twice a week and a quarter report no activity at all. Coaching for Indiana is about turning free evenings into a program that goes somewhere. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Most of Indiana is on Eastern time like me; the corners near Chicago and Evansville are on Central.

How coaching works from a distance

Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Your workouts live in the Trainerize app, you weigh in twice a week, you send progress photos every two weeks, and we talk on a weekly call scheduled around your time zone. Between calls, you can message me with questions.

I have the evenings. Why am I not getting anywhere?

Because an evening is not a plan. Indiana has one of the shorter commutes on these pages and a small share of people working from home, so the evening is there; what is usually missing is a decision about which evenings, what happens in them, and what the smallest acceptable version is on a bad day. The plan makes those decisions in advance, two or three sessions a week built around the big movements, and the weekly call checks whether they held. Consistency without motivation is the idea behind it.

Does online coaching work for someone in their twenties and thirties?

It is who I coach most. Indiana has one of the younger median ages on these pages, and the pattern at that age is not a lack of effort; it is effort without a system, a new program every month, and a plan that assumes the week will hold still. Coaching gives the effort somewhere to go. Most Indiana households have the connection the weekly call needs, and the workouts sit in an app on your phone.

Four in ten Hoosiers lift already. What is left to coach?

Progression, and the quarter who report nothing. For the lifters, coaching is enough weekly work for each muscle, progression you can see in the logbook, and someone reading it every week; for the rest, it is a plan small enough to survive a first bad week. Coaching to build muscle is the first shape; coaching for beginners is the second. The state survey says both groups are large here.
