Online fitness coaching for people in Missouri
Missouri commutes less than most states on these pages and, by the state survey, lifts less too: about a third of adults do strength work twice a week, and a quarter report no activity at all. It is a state with time and without a program. Coaching for Missouri is about adding the barbell to a week that already has room for it. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Missouri is on Central time, an hour behind me.
How Missouri trains, per the CDC's state survey
In 2023, 35.3% of adults in Missouri reported muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days a week (BRFSS, 95% CI 33.7 to 36.9). In 2025, 24.0% reported no leisure-time physical activity at all (BRFSS, 95% CI 22.6 to 25.5).
Daily life in Missouri, by the numbers
From the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, published value and margin of error together: about 13.0% of workers who live here work from home (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.2); commuters average 23.5 minutes to work (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.1); the median age is 39.0 years (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.2); 89.3% of households have a broadband subscription (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.2). State figures: your own city may differ.
How coaching works from a distance
Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Your workouts live in the Trainerize app, you weigh in twice a week, you send progress photos every two weeks, and we talk on a weekly call scheduled around your time zone. Between calls, you can message me with questions.
Few people I know lift. Where do I start without feeling out of place?
With a program short enough to learn in a week. Missouri has one of the lower shares of adults lifting two or more days a week on these pages, which means the gym can feel like a place where everyone else knows something you do not. The first month is two sessions of six movements, weights that feel too easy, and the why and the technique taught as we go; a third session comes when the week has room. Your first day at the gym covers the walk through the door; coaching for beginners covers the month after it.
I have time. I just don’t use it. Can a coach fix that?
A plan can, and a person who notices can. Missouri’s commute is among the shorter ones on these pages, so the hours are there; what the state survey suggests is missing is a reason to spend them in a gym. The plan gives you two or three sessions you placed yourself, each with a target from last time, and the weekly call is where someone reads whether they happened. In my experience that second part is what turns time into training. Consistency without motivation is the idea.
Kansas City, St. Louis, the Ozarks: is the coaching the same?
The same method, your week. The state figures blend two metro areas with a lot of small towns, and the plan needs only your days, your drive and a place to lift. Most Missouri households have a broadband subscription, which is all the weekly call needs, and the median age sits in the middle of these pages. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online.
