Online fitness coaching for people in North Carolina
North Carolina has one of the lower shares of adults reporting no activity on these pages, and one of the lowest shares who lift twice a week. Read together, that says a state that moves but does not strength train. Coaching for North Carolina is about adding the barbell to a life that already walks, runs and hikes. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. North Carolina is on Eastern time, the same as me.
How North Carolina trains, per the CDC's state survey
In 2023, 34.1% of adults in North Carolina reported muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days a week (BRFSS, 95% CI 32.0 to 36.3). In 2025, 19.7% reported no leisure-time physical activity at all (BRFSS, 95% CI 18.2 to 21.4).
Daily life in North Carolina, by the numbers
From the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, published value and margin of error together: about 16.3% of workers who live here work from home (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.2); commuters average 25.1 minutes to work (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.1); the median age is 39.1 years (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.2); 90.1% of households have a broadband subscription (90% margin of error plus or minus 0.2). State figures: your own city may differ.
How coaching works from a distance
Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online. Your workouts live in the Trainerize app, you weigh in twice a week, you send progress photos every two weeks, and we talk on a weekly call scheduled around your time zone. Between calls, you can message me with questions.
I’m already active. Why would I need a strength program?
Because the two numbers above describe you. North Carolina has one of the smaller shares of adults reporting no leisure-time activity on these pages, and one of the smallest shares lifting two or more days a week. That is a state full of people who run, hike and walk the dog and have never had a strength program with progression in it. Two or three lifting sessions a week built around the big movements do not replace what you already do; they are what makes the rest of it last. How to start lifting weights is the first month on your own.
Mountains, coast, the Triangle: do you coach them differently?
Same method, your week. The state figures blend all of it, and the plan only needs to know your days, your commute and where you can lift. North Carolina has one of the higher work-from-home shares on these pages and a shorter commute than most, which usually means the sessions can land at lunch or before dinner instead of at dawn. The weekly call is where we place them for the week ahead.
Does coaching from Florida feel remote?
No more than from the next town. We are on the same clock, the connection most North Carolina households have is all the call needs, and the plan sits in the app on your phone. What makes coaching feel close is the weekly call and the messages in between, not the mileage. Diogo is based in South Florida and coaches online; nothing on this page implies otherwise.
